George listened to a missionary speak when he was a teenager and heard the call to become a missionary. At the age of 15 his family sent him to live with a missionary family in the Democratic Republic of the Congo where he confirmed his call to service.
He has lived and served on four continents including as Director of Connectional Ministries for the United Methodist West Ohio Conference and as Executive Director of Mission and Evangelism for the United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries. He has worked with rural, urban, and suburban leaders and churches in the United States and globally, and designed and led training for leaders in a wide variety of church locations and sizes.
As a Volunteer in Mission, he has participated in over twenty-five missions in ten countries and was one of the architects of the partnership between the North Katanga Conference in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the West Ohio Conference. His background in community development and engagement with growing rural churches in the DRC shaped his understanding of asset-based development and the importance of starting small and growing.
He is the father of two married daughters, Kathryn and Jennifer, a grandfather of five, and lives with his wife Eileen in Atlanta, Georgia.
